You’ve decided to move your store from Wix to Shopify. Now you want the simple part: a Wix to Shopify migration app that does the move for you.
There are plenty to choose from. Some are free, some charge by the amount of data you move, and nearly all of them promise a move in a few clicks. What they don’t say up front is that an app moves only part of your store. Products and customers usually come across. Your design, your blog, your reviews and your Google rankings need more than an app.
This guide compares your four options so you can pick the one that fits your store.
Which Wix to Shopify Migration App Should You Use?
It depends on what your store needs to bring across. Here’s the short answer:
- Small store, products and customers only: Shopify’s free Store Migration app is enough.
- You need your order history too: use a paid migration app.
- Big catalog and a team that is comfortable with spreadsheets: use a bulk import tool.
- Your store is your main income, or Google brings in your sales: hand it to an expert team that runs the tool and handles everything an app can’t.
The rest of this guide shows what each option costs, what it moves and where it falls short. Still deciding whether to switch at all? Start with our Shopify vs Wix comparison.
Your Options Compared
Here is how the four options compare side by side.
| Option | Typical cost | Moves orders? | Blog, SEO and redirects? | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Shopify’s free Store Migration app | Free | No | No | Small stores moving products and customers |
| Paid migration apps | From about $60, based on how much data you move | Yes, on most | On some. Redirects often cost extra | Stores that need order history and can check the results themselves |
| Bulk import tools | Monthly plans from about $20 | Yes | Yes, if you prepare the files | Teams that are comfortable with spreadsheets and have big catalogs |
| Expert migration team | Quoted for your store | Yes | Yes, planned and tested | Stores where sales, rankings or custom features are at stake |
Each Option Explained
The table gives you the outline. Now a closer look at each option, starting with the free one.
1. Shopify's free Store Migration app
This is Shopify’s own app. You export your products and customers from Wix as CSV files and upload them to the app without editing them. It then shows a report of what was imported and what had problems.
What it won’t move: anything except products and customers. Orders, blog posts, pages, reviews and redirects all need another route. Shopify’s Wix migration guide lists two more limits. Products with more than 3 options are imported without their options. If you set prices by location, each product gets its highest price.
Who can use it: the app is in early access. Shopify says it is available only for certain stores and only on desktop.
What users say: in October 2026 it was rated a little over 3 out of 5 stars from fewer than 100 reviews, and about a quarter of reviewers gave it one star. Common complaints are transfers that miss images, descriptions or prices, and error messages that don’t explain the fix. It’s a good free starting point, but check every product afterward.
2. Paid migration apps
If you need more than products and customers, a paid app is the next step up. It connects to your Wix store and copies the data across for you. Pricing is based on how many products, customers and orders you move and starts at about $60, so a small store may pay under $100.
What they add: order history and, on some apps, categories, discount codes, blog posts and 301 redirects. Most offer a free demo that moves a small sample, so you can check the result before you pay.
Watch out for: each app supports different data, so read its list carefully. Extras such as redirects can cost more. None of them move your design or your Wix apps.
3. Bulk import tools
For a large catalog there is a third route. Bulk import tools are spreadsheet tools, not automatic migrators. You export your Wix data, convert it to the tool’s template, then import products, customers, orders, pages, blog posts and redirects in bulk. Plans start at about $20 a month.
They’re powerful and affordable for large catalogs. You do need to be comfortable with spreadsheets, because one wrong column can break hundreds of products.
4. An expert migration team
The first three options leave the checking and the rebuilding to you. The fourth doesn’t. An app moves data. A team moves the whole store. That means choosing and running the right tool, fixing products with too many options, rebuilding your design, mapping every redirect and testing checkout before launch.
That is how we run Wix to Shopify moves at WebyKing. You get one team and one plan. See our Wix to Shopify migration services for how it works.
What No Migration App Can Move
Whichever app you choose, some parts of your Wix store won’t come across. Plan to rebuild or replace these:
- Your design. Wix templates don’t run on Shopify. You choose a Shopify theme, or have one designed by our Shopify web design team.
- Wix apps and Velo code. Each Wix app is replaced with a Shopify app (see our list of best Shopify apps for small business). Custom Velo features are rebuilt, which our Shopify development team can do.
- Customer passwords. They can’t be transferred. Each customer sets a new one from an account activation email.
- Wix Reviews. Wix says reviews can’t be exported, and Shopify says they can’t be migrated from Wix. If a paid app claims to move them, test that in the demo.
- Gift card balances. Most migration apps skip them. Reissue unused balances in Shopify, or use a gift card import app that keeps the original codes.
- Redirects, on most apps. Only some apps create 301 redirects. If yours doesn’t, you build the list yourself. See how to migrate without losing SEO.
How to Run a Migration App Safely
If an app is the right choice for your store, how you run it matters as much as which one you pick. Many migration problems come from skipped steps, not from the app. Follow these six:
- Back up everything first. Export products, contacts and orders from Wix, and download your images.
- Run the free demo. Check 10 to 20 products closely for images, variants, prices and descriptions.
- Fix products with 4 or more options. Shopify allows 3 options per product, so combine or split them before the full run.
- Run the full migration while Wix stays live. Your store keeps selling during the move.
- Check the results. Compare product, customer and order counts between Wix and Shopify.
- Set up redirects, then switch your domain. Launch only after your test orders work.

App or Expert: Which Is Right for You?
By now you know what an app can and can’t do. The last question is whether to run one yourself or hand the move over.
A migration app is enough when:
- Your store is small
- Your products have 3 options or fewer
- Google isn’t a big source of your sales
- You have time to check the results yourself
Bring in an expert when:
- Your store is your main income
- Your blog or product pages bring in traffic from Google
- You use Velo, Bookings, subscriptions or other custom features
- You have thousands of products or variants
At WebyKing, we choose and run the right migration tool for your store, then handle what no app can do: your theme, redirects, reviews, gift cards and testing. For budget planning, see our guide to website migration cost.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best Wix to Shopify migration app?
It depends on your store. Shopify’s free Store Migration app works for small stores that only need products and customers. If you need order history, a paid migration app can move it. If your store has a blog, custom features or strong Google rankings, an expert team is the safer choice.
Is there a free Wix to Shopify migration app?
Yes. Shopify’s Store Migration app is free and moves products and customers. It doesn’t move orders, blog posts, pages or reviews, and it is only available to certain stores.
How much does a Wix to Shopify migration app cost?
Shopify’s own app is free. Paid migration apps start at about $60 and charge by the number of products, customers and orders you move. Bulk import tools have monthly plans from about $20.
Can a migration app move my Wix blog?
Some paid apps and bulk import tools can. Shopify’s free app can’t. Wix has no blog export, so check what each tool supports before you pay.
Will a migration app keep my SEO?
Only partly. Some paid apps create 301 redirects, but you still need to check every old Wix URL, page title and description by hand.
Can I keep selling on Wix during the migration?
Yes. These tools copy your data while your Wix store stays live. Switch your domain only after the Shopify store is tested.
Why are some products missing after the migration?
The usual causes are products with more than 3 options, digital products or an import that stopped partway. Run a demo first, and compare product counts before you launch.
